This recipe is for people who can legally drink alcohol and do so in a responsible way. You can change the taste and color of the cocktail by replacing some or all of the lime juice with juice from lemon, grapefruit, blood orange, or tangerine. The classic and simple Margarita is made with lime juice, a sweetener (traditionally orange liqueur like triple sec, but agave syrup is often used as a substitute), and tequila. The syrup base tastes like a lime cordial because the lime and sugar are heated without adding any water. Lime juice, sugar, salt, Cointreau, and, if you want, citric acid are all mixed together to make homemade Margarita mix. You will also need a little orange liquor along with the tequila (Cointreau is the best). But if you want to try something different that is still tasty, mezcal is also good. Tequila Tequila is the most common type of liquor used to make margaritas. ![]()
